Fuck the Government, a new poem

Posted by Debbie in poetry

Fuck the Government

Get your number

Fall in line

And train for war your whole life

They’d put us on a conveyer built

If they could pull us away from our televisions

And come and arrest me

Because I hate my fucking country.

The govt strings along the poor and mentally ill

Making us all junkies to their petty scraps

But don’t think they won’t put your dollar

On a horserace

Fuck the Government

Calling short term detainment

Rehabilitation

And

needle exhanges are illegal

The consumer disease

Is a hard one to kick

Always some stuff

That could forever enhance this moment…

Raping our soldiers

And pimping out our country

Fuck The Government

Fuck the Government

Fuck the Government

A little of this and that

Posted by Debbie in Debbie's Blog

I have been busy.  This city has just sucked me in and I love it here. It’s like the perfect mix of Austin, TX and Venice Beach.  I can literally ride my bike anywhere…including to the beach in 5 minutes.  That school thing I’ve been talking about finishing starts next month. I already have a little over two years, so it shouldnt be so brutal.  Lots of friends coming tomorrow from SF for the reading and party at CR’s house. Should be fun.

I really believe myspace is bad.  Especially for younger kids or anyone who isolates.  I have a lot more to say about that. But I’m writing a poem about it and then leaving myspace.  Not because I don’t want to talk to my friends, but because all my real friends have my email and phone number and Myspace is a big pagent and I’m just really not into it anymore. And I’m starting to dislike people I used to like when I read their blogs. You learn too much on there.  People share too much.  And there are more predators than people care to acknowledge.

Now I’m riding my pink cruiser to the corner store for a coconut ice cream bar. I’ll be 35 this month and I expect very metal gifts….

and Janey, you need to move here. YOu can do your radio show from anywhere! That’s your first warning !

So I went to the Beat Museum to see Linda read. She was so nice. I approached her after the show and told her I didn’t have enough money to buy a book for her to sign, and we started talking. i did happen to have a copy of my newest inclusion in an anthology with me SIRENS, I was going to give it to someone to review. Linda wanted it!   Signing a book to her was one of the most surreal moments I’ve had.  We found we had a few friends in common, and it’s these small moments that make you happy you didn’t just lay down and die.

Fri, Wired Wash, Sat Linda King. Good Weekend!

Posted by Debbie in Debbie's Blog

Debbie,
Linda King is reading this weekend at the Beat Museum her new book “Bukowski Undigested”. Want to go? Should be cool!

1). Wrong Date on Bukowski Event This Weekend (it’s really Saturday
4/19 at 7:30)
2). More Details about read-thru of the Play “Beat” on Sunday at 2 PM
(it’s really an original play)
———

1). UPDATE: “Bukowski Undigested” by Linda King
Linda King Author of “Bukowski Undigested” is in town and I discovered
today I incorrectly mentioned the booksigning was Friday night on the
last email. Linda lived with Bukowski for many years and is prominently
featured in a number of his books, most noticeably “Women”. The event
is definitely SATURDAY night 4/19/08 at 7:30! Right here at The Beat
Museum.

WIred wash Friday and Linda King Saturday. Not a bad weekend.

Linda will be reading from her new work, signing her books and
displaying her sculptures of Bukowski, Ferlinghetti, Jack Micheline and Harold
Norse. Also in attendance will be Matt Sesow, the artist who created
the artwork for her book. Some of these originals will be available for
purchase here on Saturday so be sure to take a look.

Click here to see Matt Sesow’s work on his website.

me and a car full of peeps are driving to SF tomorrow to the Beat Museum to see Linda King read.  She is well known as one of the main influences in Charles Bukowski’s “women”.  She will also have sculptures on site. We will meet Nicole there.

Should be rockin.  SF folk that don’t suck should come out.

second finished new poem

Posted by Debbie in poetry

I’d rather be crazy than rich.

How dare I be sick?

How selfish is that?

Fox news has it covered, baby

Lay back and go unconscious for me now

Joining the military

Propaganda

Is very prominent in video games for children

Sometimes I still play my records backwards

And I’m not scared

I’m fucking sick

Sometimes I wonder

If my blue collar

Is made of bruises

I’ve just seen too much

And it would work out great

If you could send for back up

I’ve always been minus

In the luck arena

And

Mental illness

Has become a blanket term

You don’t have to be certified

You paranoid fucks

You can just google it….

In our country right now

We are building detainment centers.

Maybe tomorrow they will

Consider not being patriotic

As symptom of mental illness

You don’t need drugs to be paranoid

What’s really going on is more horrifying

Than television –the god of the masses_ could portray

And everyone gives me shit and says I preach

Some end of the world bullshit

But the truth is

A new world order is here

It’s too late to go back and vote

And I’ve noticed that whatever their strategy is

At preventing people from rising up together

For the better cause

Is working.

brand spankin’ new poem

Posted by Debbie in poetry

Remember the little things

It’s really the small things

Like

Having the key to a door

In your pocket

The key to the door

To your home

Restless nights are no match

For homelessness

If I were a chameleon

This never would have happened

Like the Hollywood

Scenester shape shifters

But I got a chip on my shoulder

And boom boom boom

In my strut

And even if I had

Barbara Streisand

Personal assistant

I would stand out in a crowd

And not understand why

But since there’s no competition you say

I’ll sit this ‘round out

My home is not a castle

But then again

I ain’t even close to a princess either.

Homelessness is not a crime

Rather a side effect

Of a white, male

Arbitrary utopian world

Full of breeders

And

clowns
